"Halo" ( gate keeper, City of Refuge, Hawaii )



PU 'UHONUA O HONAUNAU NATIONAL STATE PARK.  IT'S LOCATED ON THE WEST COAST OF THE ISLAND OF HAWAII.  IN ANCIENT TIMES, ONE WHO BROKE THE KAPU'S ( ANCIENT LAWS ) COULD SEEK REFUGE FROM CERTAIN DEATH INSIDE THE WALLS OF THE PU'UHONUA.  ONCE ABSOLVED BY A KAHUNA ( PRIEST ) THE OFFENDER WOULD BE ALLOWED TO SAFELY LEAVE.  DURING TIMES OF BATTLE, DEFEATED WARRIORS COULD ALSO SEEK REFUGE.  "HALO" IS ONE OF THE GATE KEEPER TIKI'S .
